The EMARS China RoHS module for the EMARS environmental-compliance software from Synapsis Technology helps companies comply with Phase One of the China RoHS regulation and prepares them for Phase Two. Officially called the Management Methods for Controlling Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products Regulations, the rules limit the same six substances specified by the EU’s RoHS directive. But unlike the EU RoHS, the Chinese regulation requires companies to compile an "X" and “O” chart that shows the presence or absence of the substances with respect to specific thresholds, broken down by part or subassembly.

The EMARS China RoHS solution generates the specified chart from bills of materials (BOMs) accessed from most major enterprise data systems. It can perform rollups of complex, multi-level BOMs into a single chart. The software will drill down into a chart so users can quickly determine what supplier part or material is contributing to a compliance failure and why. Users can then perform worst-case analyses on all multi-sourced component permutations of a product and best-case analyses to identify scenarios that meet shipment goals. Finally, the software keeps users up to date by maintaining the latest substance lists and thresholds.
