The products include the PCI-GPIB high-performance plug-and-play IEEE 488 interface, GPIB-ENET/100 high-performance Ethernet-to-GPIB controller, PCI-6289 M Series data-acquisition board, SHC68-68-EPM high-performance shielded cable, and SCC-68 high-performance terminal block. NI developed the products as part of its Hazardous Substances Reduction Initiative, which is modeled after the European Union’s RoHS directive. STANDARD TRANSFORMERS AND INDUCTORS TAKE LEAD FREE ROUTE

As of July 5, 2006, all of the company's standard-catalog transformers and inductors are now in compliance with the European Union’s RoHS/WEEE regulations. The standard solder now employed is SN96AG4, with SN100 and SN99.3CU0.7 solders available upon request. The company is denoting compliance on its product data sheets with a RoHS logo that indicates the product is designed and manufactured with lead-free solder and also does not contain levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, or polybrominated ethers prohibited by by RoHS/WEEE directives. The RoHS directive excludes all devices for use in military, medical, and aerospace applications. For designers involved with these applications who feel their products must still meet RoHS requirements, the company has developed a program to issue special part numbers for equivalents to their standard products.
