POWER MOTO Q SMARTPHONE

Motorola’s new Moto Q Smartphone has incorporated Broadcom’s Bluetooth silicon and software for advanced wireless functionality. According to Broadcom (www.broadcom.com), the company’s Widcomm software for the first time provides Windows-based mobile smartphone devices with industry-leading

Bluetooth capability formerly available only in desktop and notebook computers.

The phone can also stream stereo music to wireless headsets or remotely control audio-video functions on a PC. Broadcom’s software stack supports a wide range of Bluetooth software "profiles" (applications) among available products, including the Bluetooth imaging profile (BIP) for advanced printing and PANs. The phone features a 2.4" color screen and a QWERTY keypad.

Supporting the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform, the software and chip solutions allow the handset to replace a PC as the center of a full-feature wireless personal area network (PAN). ERICSSON PICKS AGERE
PROCESSORS FOR NEW VDSL2 LINE
Ericsson has chosen Agere Systems’ APP300 series
network processors for use in the new VDSL2 product
line. The EDA VDSL solution takes fiber-to-the-node
deployment to a new level in terms of power
efficiency and cost effectiveness for outside plant
deployment, according to the Agere announcement
(www.agere.com). The APP300 (Advanced
PayloadPlus) processors feature more than 2 Gb/s
performance, with powerful classification capabilities
and high-performance traffic management quality of
service. They serve a wide range of broadband
access applications. "Agere highly values the strategic

said Mark Cieri, director of service provider networking
